Purpose

The Centre for Energy Finance seeks to hire a Research Analyst with interdisciplinary proficiency spanning clean energy, finance, and public policy. The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in market research, literature review, and an understanding of institutional finance. Familiarity with renewable energy policy research tools and methodologies is essential. The Research Analyst will be expected to take initiatives towards advancing the objectives of the Centre for Energy Finance.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined below, the successful candidate should be prepared, as and when necessary, to take on additional responsibilities and respond to unanticipated events and developments. 

Job Duties and Accountabilities

Primary Responsibilities 

Research

  • Track policy, regulatory, and market developments associated with the clean energy sector. 
  • Undertake rigorous qualitative and quantitative analysis of market challenges using a variety of mathematical tools and interdisciplinary methodologies. 
  • Develop fit-for-purpose policy, regulatory, or market-related solutions to address challenges. 
  • Write reports/issue briefs/blogs/op-eds to disseminate analyses and outreach.
  • Collaborate within and across teams and institutions to further CEEW-CEF’s endeavours.  

General responsibilities - Programme Assistance

  • Assist with programme implementation, including helping with preparing presentations and policy recommendations.  
  • Assist with planning and executing events such as meetings, consultation workshops, round table discussions, etc.  
  • Assist with building relationships with a wider community of industry and government stakeholders in the clean energy domain.  
  • Support efforts to use new media platforms for the wide dissemination of CEEW-CEF’s work and, in turn, closer engagement with the wider community.  
  • Respond to research requests from senior researchers, discuss research needs, and prepare responses that synthesise and analyse information.
  • Participate constructively in team meetings. 

Selection Criteria 

Qualification 

  • The ideal candidate should be a master’s degree holder with a background in Renewable Energy. Bachelor’s or master’s level degrees in public policy, economics or finance in combination with degrees in engineering, sustainability, energy etc., are desirable. 

 

Professional experience 

  • 1-3 years of experience in policy think tanks, government fellowships, consultancies, etc., is desirable. 
  • Prior experience in the clean energy sector is desired. 
  • Experience in stakeholder management would be an added advantage. 

CEEW operates in a dynamic environment, and the candidate will be required to show flexibility in undertaking various tasks. 

Key skills 

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to engage with senior officials and business leaders.  
  • Strong oral communication skills with an interest in public speaking. 
  • Good writing skills with the ability to write opinion pieces, policy briefs, and reports. 

Compensation 

Competitive compensation – commensurate to the experience and matching the best standards adopted by industry or other organisations for similar roles.
