CEEW Ranked as South Asia’s Top Energy and Resource Policy Think Tank

For the sixth year in a row, the Global Go To Think Tank Index has ranked the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) as South Asia’s

Tank (15th globally) with an annual operating budget of less than USD 5 million. The Council is also ranked as South Asia’s Top Energy and Resource Policy Think Tank (24th globally). In the latest rankings, The Council has featured in seven other categories including ‘Best Managed Think Tanks’ (4th in South Asia), ‘Think Tank to Watch’ (7th in South Asia), ‘Best Independent Think Tanks’ (12th in South Asia), and Best Institutional Collaboration Involving Two or More Think Tanks (2nd in South Asia)

The 2018 Global Go To Think Tank Index, released globally in January 2019, by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) at the University of Pennsylvania, lists more than 509 think tanks in India. The 2018 Global Go To Think Tank Index is recognised as the most comprehensive global ranking of the world’s leading think tanks, considering 8,162 think tanks worldwide. It is compiled with assistance from more than 3,750 experts including university faculty and administrators, journalists, policymakers, think tank scholars and executives, and donors from around the world.

The Council’s research and impact was also recognised across the following categories:

  • Top Environment Policy Think Tanks (8th in South Asia, 81st globally)
  • Top Science and Technology Think Tanks (6th in South Asia, 64th globally)
  • Top Think Tanks in China, India, Japan and the Republic of Korea (25th in South Asia, 71st globally)
