Saikot Sukla
Public Health Fellow - NGI Fellowship
Saikot is the Public Health Next Generation India Fellow, and brings a wealth of experience and expertise. Currently working with the Government of Assam on the Lakhpati Didi initiative, he is fostering economic empowerment among Self-Help Groups members. He has mentored and trained 100+ Vitta Sakhis and Bank Mitras to promote financial literacy and credit access within SHGs. His efforts have directly benefited 800+ SHG members, enabling them to secure bank loans and equipping them with the skills and resources needed to build sustainable livelihoods.
Previously, he served as a Mahatma Gandhi National Fellow at IIM Lucknow where he played a pivotal role in strengthening district skill ecosystems, developing workforce strategies, and expanding economic opportunities in Assam. His tenure at the Center for North East Studies & Policy Research saw him contribute to the Boat Clinic project, providing essential healthcare services to remote river island communities.
Holding a Master’s degree in Social Work from Assam University, he has honed his skills in policy research, monitoring and evaluation, project management and community-driven development. His contributions have been widely recognized, including designing skill training modules for Juvenile Observation Homes, facilitating an MoU between IBM CSR and the District Skill Committee, and receiving the Best Success Story Award for his counseling initiatives.
