Vishal Tripathi
Consultant
Vishal is a Consultant with the Power Markets team at The Council. His work primarily involves enhancing regulatory frameworks for green energy open access, facilitating large-scale renewable energy procurement by commercial and industrial (C&I) consumers, and advancing data-driven resource adequacy planning in India’s electricity markets. Additionally, Vishal investigates systemic challenges within the power sector, including tariff design, cost-reflective pricing mechanisms, and the implications of increased renewable energy demand spurred by emerging industries such as green hydrogen production.
After a brief two-year stint in litigation, Vishal transitioned to public policy roles, working extensively with government bodies, think tanks, and research institutions. At NITI Aayog, he contributed to improving health and nutrition outcomes across 112 of India's most underdeveloped districts under the Aspirational Districts Programme. He also supported the Government of Delhi by helping set up the Delhi Assembly Research Centre, designed to assist Members of the Legislative Assembly with informed public policy research and fieldwork. Vishal has experience working with a prominent political consulting firm as well.
Vishal holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Hertie School, Berlin, and a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Arts from Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar. Outside of professional pursuits, Vishal is a voracious news junkie, an avid reader, and loves listening to long-form podcasts. He enjoys mountain hiking and is a passionate supporter of Arsenal FC.
