Purpose

The Clean Air team at CEEW seeks to hire a Consultant with good data analytical skills to assist the team’s research on air quality data and emission estimates. The role primarily involves evaluating the impacts of clean construction practices on air quality and estimating the impacts of other emission sources in a typical urban setting. The candidate is expected to have good data analysis and presentation skills. The role provides opportunities to interact with and learn from the different teams at CEEW and will appeal to those interested in building quantitative research skills.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities below, the individual should be prepared to take on additional responsibilities as and when necessary.

Job duties and Accountabilities:

Research and analysis

  • Conduct primary and secondary research on monitoring construction dust emissions, C&D waste management, air pollution mitigation strategies at construction sites.
  • Analyse relevant environmental regulations, standards, and compliance frameworks related to clean construction practices. 
  • Manage surveys and analyse data from other hyper-local sources in targeted geographies.
  • Support the development and refinement of tools, dashboards, and models to analyse air quality data and evaluate mitigation scenarios.
  • Conduct assessments using Excel/Python/R-based tools.
  • Generate high-quality research reports, policy briefs and publications in leading peer- reviewed journals. Generate other knowledge products such as blogs, policy briefs, etc., at regular intervals. 
  • Participate in relevant conferences, workshops, and training programmes for a comprehensive understanding of developments relevant to the air quality sector. 
  • Support the team by periodically travelling within India, particularly for field visits and stakeholder meetings related to pilot studies. 

Selection Criteria

Qualifications and Experiance

  • Preferably completed a Master's degree in Environmental science, Environmental engineering, statistics, or other allied fields. 
  • Awareness about major developments in air pollution and environmental regulations, AQ monitoring and forecasting, clean construction practices, sustainability policy, regulatory governance, etc. 
  • Knowledge of English and Hindi is mandatory.

 Key Skills

  • Proficiency in statistical tools (Excel, SPSS) and their applications.
  • Good knowledge of ArcGIS/QGIS/Google Earth Engine.
  • Demonstrated ability in carrying out data analysis using programming languages such as R, and Python.
  • Good research skills, ability to carry out systematic literature reviews.
  • Analytical skills, including quantitative research skills, and ability to handle and analyse large datasets.
  • Experience in dealing with stakeholders (industry, academic, government, etc.) is preferred.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to adapt to the new environment and deliver under tight deadlines in a professional environment.

  • Ability to effectively work in a team while being able to independently drive research with minimum assistance when time demands.

Compensation:

Competitive compensation – commensurate to the experience and matching the best of standards adopted by industry or other similar organisations for similar roles.
