Natural Gas Systems

With significantly lower greenhouse gas and criteria pollutant emissions than other fossil fuels such as coal, furnace oil and petroleum coke, natural gas is an important transition fuel for the Indian economy. Though the natural gas infrastructure in India is developing at a steady pace, the share of natural gas in the primary energy mix hovers around six per cent. The Council’s work on natural gas strives to analyse end-use technologies, market mechanisms and transition pathways to accelerate the demand for natural gas while ensuring reliable and price-competitive supply to demand sectors across the country.
