Climate Resilience

The climate resilience team envisions a future where institutions, infrastructure, economies, and people are insulated from the risks of a changing climate. We examine, identify, assess and predict risks related to extreme climate events such as floods, droughts, and cyclones, variabilities in temperature and rainfall, and the compounding impacts of associated climate events at the national and sub-national levels. We also work closely with state and district-level authorities to develop climate-action and disaster management plans. Further, we build tools to assess community resilience and adaptation capabilities and help climate-proof lives and livelihoods.

  • “Through this MoU (with CEEW), we will be able to conduct joint research, build capacity development programmes and leverage expertise on various topics critical to addressing increasing climate and disaster risks to infrastructure. As we start to identify areas of collaboration, we need to focus on actionable research.”

  • “I commend CEEW on this pioneering effort to assess the climate vulnerability of Indian districts using a comprehensive and integrated framework that can also be scaled up across regions and countries. This report would be useful for policymakers, administrative authorities and civil society organisations in designing and implementing evidence-based solutions for disaster risk reduction.”
