Chinmaya Acharya

Chief of Party

Chinmaya is the Chief of Party for the Cleaner Air Better Health Project, a part of the Risks and Adaptation focus area. He is coordinating the activities of CEEW and four other partner organisations to ensure smooth programme implementation and help support air pollution mitigation and exposure reduction.

Chinmaya has over 24 years of experience in the development sector, mostly focusing on policies and programs related to livelihoods, micro finance, natural resource management, power sector reform, clean energy and climate mitigation themes. Prior to joining the Council, Chinmaya served the British High Commission New Delhi as the Low Carbon Energy Program and Policy Lead. He managed the delivery of a £15.4 million India-United Kingdom joint project, in partnership with the Ministry of Power and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, which contributed to the India-United Kingdom ministerial energy dialogue, and advanced the UK’s energy transition policy engagements with the Government of India.

Chinmaya’s past assignments have been with Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, the United States Agency for International Development,the overseas development wing of the US Government, consulting firms and other NGOs. Through his professional career, he has been involved in strategy planning, project management and fund raising functions.

Chinmaya has completed graduation in Science from Sambalpur University and Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar.
