Kumaresh Ramesh
Research Analyst
Kumaresh works as a Research Analyst with the Renewables team at the Council. His research interests include renewable energy technologies, electricity dispatch models, and the transition away from coal. Specifically, he wants to understand and influence the interactions between public policy, the power market and private actors in order to hasten the transition to net zero.
Kumaresh holds a BTech in Energy Engineering and MTech in Energy Systems Engineering from IIT Bombay, along with minors in Social Sciences and Applied Statistics. Previously, he has worked with Black & Veatch Global Advisory on repurposing of coal-fired power plants, technical due diligence of power plants for financial institutions, and regulatory landscape analysis supporting the development of low-carbon data centres. As an undergraduate, Kumaresh also interned at the Council, developing the framework to assess the costs and benefits of grid-connected rooftop solar.
When Kumaresh is not working, you can find him reading books or Twitter threads, going into obscure rabbit holes on the Internet, or trying to learn a language on Duolingo.
