Akash Gupta

Research Analyst

Akash’s research at The Council involves techno-economic feasibility assessments for rooftop solar deployment, assessing consumer perceptions about rooftop solar, and developing strategies for improving bioenergy adoption in India. With a strong analytical background as an engineer, he is keen on developing data-driven insights and improving policy decisions to strengthen the sustainable economy.

Previously, Akash has worked with EcoSantulan, a Mumbai-based waste management start-up focusing on providing composting and biogas solutions for urban applications. For his Master’s thesis, he evaluated the technical, economic, and environmental feasibility of biogas recovery from wastewater treatment plants, aimed at increasing the energy independence of treatment plants and closing the energy loops.

He holds a postgraduate degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, and an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Pune. Outside of work, he enjoys motorcycle touring, discovering new music, reading, and photography.
