Harsimran Kaur

Research Analyst

Harsimran is a policy researcher focusing on sustainable mobility at The Council. Currently, she is mapping the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem required for domestic manufacturing and analysing the macro-economic implications of the transition to electric mobility in India. Her research interests include electric mobility, low carbon transport, and railways.

As a research intern at The Council in July 2018, she worked on estimating energy subsidies to fossil fuels and renewable energy, and analysed the impact of GST regime on the levelised cost of energy of solar and coal power plants for a project with International Institute for Sustainable Development. She has also interned at Micromax Energy where she worked on rooftop solar project design and development.

During postgraduation, as part of her major thesis project, she interned with the Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation in the Transport programme. Her thesis research focused on identifying barriers to the adoption of electric vehicles and key policy drivers to accelerate its adoption in India.

Harsimran holds a postgraduate degree in Renewable Energy Engineering from TERI School of Advanced Studies and an undergraduate degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from GGS Indraprastha University.
