Prerna Prabhakar

Program Associate

Dr Prerna Prabhakar is a Program Associate in the Industrial Sustainability and Competitiveness team at the Council. Prior to joining the Council, she worked with the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) where she focussed on external sector issues, investment potential for Indian States/Union Territories as well as land policy matters. Prerna has also worked on research projects with the University of Delhi, Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) and Centre for WTO Studies at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT).

Prerna led the research work for India’s first index for Land Records called NCAER Land Records and Services Index (NLRSI) and engaged with State governments to discuss potential areas of improvements in this regard. She is also on the expert panel of the Policy in Action program of Young Leaders for Active Citizenship (YLAC). She has reviewed a number of research papers for NCAER’s journal – Margin.

Prerna completed her PhD from the Department of Business Economics, University of Delhi, focussing broadly on two key aspects of International economics — climate change policies and regional integration. She has a post-graduation degree in Economics from TERI School of Advanced Studies (TSAS). Prerna has published her research in Indian and international journals including Environmental Economics and Policy Studies. She regularly contributes opinion pieces to leading newspapers.
