Shanal Pradhan

Programme Associate

Shanal Pradhan's research at the Council focuses on sustainable agriculture, food, and land-use systems in the context of the changing climate. It includes intersecting science, policy, and practice to inform food system transformations that support healthy diets and sustainable food production and consumption. She also comes with experience in climate governance and impact evaluation of climate change policies to examine what works, for whom and why? Her core interest lies in extending knowledge beyond the scientific evidence to work with a range of actors from keystone to policy-makers, corporates to farmers to navigate the solution space.

Prior to joining The Council, she worked on Technology Needs Assessment and Biennial Update Reports, both of which are important submissions to the UNFCCC at TIFAC, Department of Science and Technology. She has also worked with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and interned at the Indian Institute for Human Settlements and WWF.

Shanal holds a dual Master’s degree in Environmental Management from the National University of Singapore and Geography from Bangalore University. As part of her master’s thesis, she did extensive research on Portable water reuse policies and public opinions associated with them.
