Shanal Pradhan

Research Analyst

Shanal is a researcher on climate change and urban transition. At The Council, she works on climate governance, transparency, and industrial sustainability through the prism of energy, emissions, and resources. Her areas of interest include forest policy and governance, human-environment interactions, and vulnerability aspects of natural hazards.

Prior to joining The Council, she worked on Technology Needs Assessment, one of the important submissions to UNFCCC and National Action Plan on Climate Change at Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council, Department of Science and Technology. She has also worked with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and WWF. She has interned at the Indian Institute for Human Settlements.

Shanal holds dual Master’s degree in Environmental Management from National University of Singapore where she was the recipient of ADB-Japan Scholarship. As part of her master’s thesis, she did extensive research on Portable Water Reuse Policies and public opinions associated with it. She holds an undergraduate degree in Geography from Bangalore University.
